In some ways, our cinema has preceded us in listing out the emotions that we’ve been dealing with in recent times. This year, there’s fatigue, burnout from the grief and a complete deterioration of mental health on all fronts. It seems like 2021 is a bad, bad flashback of 2020 and we’re not down for it in any capacity. Just when we were figuring out the rules to the ‘new normal’, we’re back into lockdown mode. ![]() Our lives are stalled, there are people dying and scarily enough, it looks like this isn’t going away just yet. Where does the misery really end?Īs scarring images flood our timelines and social media turns into a helpline for the needy, it seems like the country and its youth are living in a haze. Cut to 4 months into 2021 and we’re dealing with one of the most profound infrastructural collapses in the world with nearly 4 lakh new infections each day. Goa was raging on New Year’s Eve, restaurants and bars were having limited capacity events again and a semblance of normalcy seemed to be hanging in the air. With the dropping number of Covid-19 cases in India, we were convinced the bad parts were mostly over. When 2020 ended, a lot of us breathed a sigh of relief.
